Be Still | Chapter 3, A Prayer
Emily Dean
Whatever it is you are longing for and whatever salve you choose, I hope and pray you find moments of relief and joy throughout these seasons. I pray you are able to hear a child’s laughter and relish it. I hope you are able to eat a warm meal and savor it. I pray even in the midst of chaotic family gatherings you are able to be amused and even find humor in it. I hope that as you remember and grieve the loved one who is no longer here you feel moments of relief after the tears.
I pray that in this season there are moments when the longing, though not fully satisfied, doesn’t cry as loud. That this lessened cry comes not from ignoring it or stomping it down but from moments spent being present. That somehow, in the midst of your aching, you are surprised by wonder and joy.
